We're seeking an exeprienced Internal Audit Manager to lead our risk management process and ensure it's effectiveness in mitigating the risks facing our business, and its ability to provide appropriate assurances to the Audit Committee and Executive.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver 6 monthly review and reporting of principal risks to the business and their current / planned mitigations for Board and Audit Committee
  • Maintenance of assurance map to ensure key risk mitigation activity is independently reviewed (either by Internal Audit or other functions in the business)
  • Perform annual Internal Control Self-Assessment exercise across the business
  • Provide ad hoc risk management advice to the business e.g. by facilitating risk workshops, providing risk management tools and templates
  • Develop audit plan covering a limited number of high impact reviews which address key business risks and priorities. To be agreed annually with Audit Committee and Executive
  • Review and re-prioritise the audit plan based on incoming management requests and emerging risks / issues
  • Personally deliver high quality audits in line with agreed methodologies and timescales
  • Provide ad hoc consultancy expertise to improve business processes and internal controls
  • Manage external service provider(s) to effectively deliver technical audits that cannot be resourced in-house
  • Follow up on agreed audit actions to ensure these are implemented by management and where necessary drive delivery through to completion
  • Provide “live” assurance for major strategic projects underway in the business, including regular project health reports and independent review of critical project documents over the duration of the project
  • Maintain and update the Financial and Operational Authorities framework in line with business requirements, including oversight of system / process implementation
  • Ownership and project management of new risk and control initiatives as directed by the Executive

Minimum Requirements:

  • An in depth understanding of the principles of Audit and Risk management
  • Demonstable progression within an audit team to a senior manager level, now looking for direct Board / Audit Committee exposure
