The Food Technologist collaborates with others on product development and improvement—leveraging emerging science and technology in order to meet the growth, quality and cost objectives of the business. This person knows the effects of processes, equipment, and environment on ingredients and formulas. As a formulator, he/she understands and highlights the cause and effect of product/ingredient/process changes and identifies effective solutions. He/she will coordinate pilot plant testing, evaluation, troubleshooting, and cost reduction feasibility testing to assure continued cost, quality and marketplace competitiveness. He/she will work toward reducing variability and ensuring reproducibility of high-quality, high-value products.
This position requires:
- •A four-year college degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Chemistry, Cereal Chemistry, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- •8-12 years of related experience (R&D) in a food manufacturing environment.
- •3-5 years of formulation experience in baking mix development. Preferably has prior experience in transitioning laboratory formulas to successful large-batch formulas in a manufacturing environment.
