The Indirect procurement category at Tate & Lyle is undergoing some exciting changes and we are growing our team to help support the development of this area. This role will primarily support one of the Indirect Global Category Managers (based in London) and work with our Global Shared Services Procurement team (based in Poland) across our Professional Services category.

The successful candidate is likely to gain exposure to other Indirect categories as well which makes this role best suited to someone who is ambitious, with a positive approach to issue resolution.

Main Accountabilities:

This role is based in Tate & Lyle’s Head Office and the successful candidate will support and lead projects which will require liaising with our leadership team. The majority of our Procurement team is based in our Chicago office so you will act as one of the ‘faces’ of Procurement in our Head Office.

  • Work with business teams to develop and utilise RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage
  • Implement supplier-sourcing strategies that ensure high quality, on time delivery and cost competitiveness
  • Implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures and systems in order to leverage spend and reduce costs
  • Influence cross-functional organisations while enhancing strong internal relationships in order to meet business requirements and cost objectives
  • Initiate Supplier Performance Reviews with the internal business team to measure and document performance levels, identify development areas, perform root cause analysis and establish corrective action plans for improved Supplier performance
  • Coordinates and leverages with global procurement organisation to obtain the best value for Tate & Lyle
  • Support the Indirect Procurement Director in ad hoc preparation of data and presentation materials for Vice President of Procurement and Chief Procurement Officer

Key Qualifications

  • Experience working in a similar role in a procurement department
  • Proven experience working with Indirect Spend Categories
  • Proven results with implementing standard procurement best practices, building strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and consulting on procurement best practices for cross-functional project teams
  • Experience with e-sourcing applications and running online events
  • Proven knowledge of procurement principles and strong negotiation skills
  • Experience writing contracts in a procurement function
  • Proficiency in SAP
  • Ideally degree qualified or equivalent
  • A relevant procurement qualification is advantageous
