Job Description
In Procurement the challenges come thick and fast and they keep on coming. Buying, working with commodities and reading the markets, negotiating with suppliers, working across our brands, across our business segments and across Europe. Over the course of this three-year programme you’ll get a complete overview of our business, together with the freedom and responsibility to have a very real and very visible impact on it.
What will I be doing?
You’ll be fully involved in the business and driving projects that are about making sure we buy the right products, driven initially by quality and then at the right price, at the same time as making sustainability a priority. You see, we do business in a way that’s about more than just turning a profit. That’s why the objective of our procurement teams is to pursue mutual long-term gain, for us, our suppliers and the good of the planet. It’s about having ideas and ideals. You’ll be making that happen across an incredible variety of projects.
If the things that excite you are: negotiating great deals for the business, leading business change projects, managing suppliers and taking responsibility for your own results, then this is the job for you. It’s an experience that will stretch you, that could see you working in two European countries, two of our business segments, and two buying areas, examples of which include:
Packaging (e.g. Celebration Tubs)
Raw Materials (e.g. flavours including vanilla)
Capital Equipment (e.g. a factory production line)
Logistics (e.g. transport & warehousing)
Marketing Service (e.g. Mars Inc. branded merchandise)
Supplier Quality Assurance (e.g. taking responsibility for the quality of incoming goods)
What support can I expect?
Alongside the freedom and responsibility you’ll also get plenty of support. It will include guidance from experienced line managers on each of your placements, support from a sponsor (a senior manager), a buddy (a graduate who’s been there and done it before) and guidance from your programme champions. And should you move countries whilst on the programme, our exceptional support package will provide everything you need to settle into your new environment.
Where will I be based?
Within your application, you will need to select your preferred base location. This could be:
UK (Slough – West of London) or; Germany (Verden – South East of Bremen) If you wish to apply to the German programme, please click here Should you then complete a European rotation, this is likely to be within the UK, Germany or the Netherlands

A 2:1 or above (‘gut’ or equivalent in Germany) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Ability to demonstrate commercial acumen/passion for procurement through personal or professional experiences.
A desire to work internationally during and after the programme has finished. We encourage ap
